I have a car and a bank account. Do I qualify for CalWORKs?
Probably yes. Families must have under $12,552 in total assets or resources. The limit is $18,829 for families with at least one person who has a disability or is 60 years old or more.
There are also some assets that the welfare office does not count against you. You should apply to find out if you are eligible.
CalWORKs applicants or recipients must report real and personal property. Counties must request documentation of these resources to show that the family meets the maximum resource limit. Money held in a checking, savings, or digital account such as CashApp or PayPal is considered property and counts toward the resource limit.
