Do I have to do welfare-to-work activities during the COVID-19 pandemic?
It depends. Many activities are not being offered because of COVID. The counties should broadly grant “good cause” requests that allow you to continue to receive aid and not complete welfare-to-work requirements. The counties must stop broadly giving good cause because of COVID at the end of the Public Health Emergency, which right now is May 13, 2023. Counties will restart people in Welfare-to-Work within 60 days of the end of the Public Health Emergency.
You will still be able to ask for good cause if COVID prevents you from participating in Welfare-to-Work for a period of time.
