What do I need to do to continue receiving CalFresh benefits?

You need to give the county a report about your income, assets, and household every 6 months.  If you start making more money, you might have to report right away.  Income that is over the Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) will trigger a report.  The county provides you with the updated IRT limits each year.

Starting in June 2026, stricter work requirements apply to "Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs)."  Adults aged 18-64, who do not meet any exemptions, must work or participate in approved work or training activities for at least 20 hours per week or 80 hours per month to receive benefits for more than 3 months. You might meet an exception if you have a child under the age of 14 in your home, you are physically or mentally unable to work, you receive disability benefits, you are enrolled in a school or training program at least half-time, or you are pregnant. This is not an exhaustive list, just some common examples.
